Hiiii everyone.  It's Wednesday.  AKA hump-day.  Actually it's Wednesday night so I think hump-day is over but I work almost 7 days a week so I'm not even sure if I get a hump-day.  Whatever, that is neither here nor there.  Definitely not the point of this post.  The point of this post is to show you something amazing that I found on Pinterest.

I told you about Pinterest in my last post...I'm mildly obsessed with it...okay totally obsessed with it, but it's okay, I'm admitting I have a problem... that's the first step to recovery...although I have no intention of recovering because Pinterest allows me to find things like THIS.  Yes, I know...amazing, breathtaking, beautiful, simple organization.

I was SO in love with the way these jars were labeled, I immediately went to Kristine's blog to find out how to do it.  She gives a brilliant tutorial and includes free printables!!!  I was so in love with the style, I basically followed it to a T (is it "to a T" or "to a Tea"?? what does that even mean??).  I didn't want to use her printables, though, because I wanted to use these labels on umm pretty much everything, so I made my own, following the simply beautiful theme of dictionary definitions.  (I also didn't want to use hers because they are from photoshop (which sadly I don't have) and the fonts are too and I would have an OCD coronary if 8 looked one way and the others looked different because the same fonts weren't available...I know, I may have more than one problem)
It took me about an hour and a half to make these bad boys but I'm so happy with what I ended up with.  I changed the numbers a bit so that they would be numerical (PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THEY ARE NOT and I missed something because if I print them out on that super expensive decal paper I ordered online just to find out I messed it up, I'm going to be peeved...yes, I'm OCD about really dumb stuff considering my apartment is kind of a mess right now).  Hope you guys like them!  Head over to her blog to see some other amazingly cool techniques and DIY things... she's phenomenal!
Below is a PDF... you can't change or edit this one but you can print it or open it and save it (I believe).  If you want a word version of it that you can edit, just shoot me an email at lynnlovejoy@orderinthekitchen.com and I'd be happy to send you one in word that you can edit.  For the fonts, I used "Baskerville-Semibold" and "Courier".  <--this also bugs me because in law school we are taught that it goes like this {."} not {".} but oh well.  The descriptions of the items (i.e. Brown for the Sugar) were put into "small caps" and the numbers are a dark grey instead of solid black.  I think that's it!  Comment if you have questions!
The Verdict:  Totally worth the time and effort.  I cannot wait for my decal paper to arrive and to move all of our stuff into a new world of organization (except for the minor detail that I have to go buy the jars... but that's all for another day).  I will post again once it's all done and show you how they look!  I can't wait!  Now go check out Kristine's blog, because she is amazing.

OMGosh! You are some kinda quick, girl! Your labels look amazing. I have had lots of people wanting additional labels. Is it okay if I link to your post here? I promised to make more though with a teething 7 month old it might take me forever so if I could post about your labels that would be awesome.
Kristine
Oh, and if you think creating the graphics took a while wait 'til you start the labelling process. It took me two days just for my eight jars (well, that was with a screaming baby in my arms but you know, it always takes longer than you think). Can't wait to see them finished!

Hey! so glad you liked them/approve! That means so much since I basically worship the ground you walk on for coming up with this brilliant idea ha! I would be thrilled and honored if you linked up to me! As you can see in the post, I made it in a word doc, so if people just send an email me asking for it, I'd be more than happy to send it along so they can make their own or whatever. I just made it a pdf so people could print it out if they didn't want to make changes.

Absolutely feel free to share! That's what the blogging community is about after all. I absolutely love your blog...I'm amazed you can do all this anyway, let alone with a BABY! I'm single (as in unmarried, I live with the bf) so not too many distractions like a teething child! I can totally see why that would not allow you to make more labels for your adoring fans :) I really appreciated your quick responses/tips though...that was so immensely helpful as all I could think about once I discovered them was how to make my own! ha! I can't wait to attempt to put them on...although I just got the regular decal paper bc the magic was so expensive (and I'm sadly underemployed right now, as the legal market is a nightmare) :( Anyway, yes definitely feel free to share! Thanks Kristine!

Hi Lynn,

I am a big fan of Kristine's work and now you have produced amazing labels. How did you know I'd been planning long to design a few.
So, moral of the story - can you please, please email me your .doc version of the lovely labels?
I live in Germany and am involved in hand printed silk scarfs and home linen, paper etc. I do carve my stamps/blocks myself. Image transfer is my latest passion and have tried it on different surfaces. It is simply marvelous. Will try to post some pictures of my new projects on my FB page soon.
Lynn you are blessed with creativity. Do drop in a line whenever you do some project. Thanks, Preeti

Hi again Lynn
I've been trying to download your labels so I can make a graphic for my blog post about them though I can only seem to be able to 'print' them. Is it possible for you to forward me a copy of the original doc?
Thanks so much.

Hi Lynn! Can you provide the description of what kind of "Magic" and "Inkjet Waterslide Decal" paper you got? And maybe links to where you purchased them? I noticed that Kristine is in Australia and the ebay sites she used to purchase her paper wouldn't be my first choice as I live in FL.
Thanks!

Hey Esther,

Sorry for the delay in my response! I actually got the same magic paper that Kristine got because I was trying to purchase it and "agreed" to purchase it, although was never prompted to give any info or anything, which I thought was weird, so I didn't think anything of it. I then went to amazon and just got waterslide inkjet paper to use in the way Kristine did in her other post (its linked within the jars one). THEN I got an email invoice from that Australian company saying that I had "agreed" to buy it and so I had to. I didn't really feel like arguing and that was the one I wanted anyway, so I went ahead and got it. I still have the regular waterslide paper though and now have to figure out what to do with it! I hope that was helpful although I fear it wasn't ha... if you don't want to buy the stuff from Australia then just get regular waterslide inkjet (or laserjet) decal paper from amazon.com (just make sure you get inkjet if your printer takes ink and laserjet if your printer is a laser printer)... I think that's it! Let me know if you have other questions!

xoxo,

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

Like you I’m a young attorney with slight OCD about apartment organization and other “dumb stuff” (I think it comes with the territory). I absolutely fell in love with Kristine’s idea for creating jar labels and I’m FINALLY getting around to buying the decal paper to enhance my World Market square jars. It would be wonderful to secure a copy of your word doc so that I can create a few additional labels along the way. If you could please email the file it would be very much appreciated. Thanks for all your hard work in creating these!

Hi Lynn,

I've been searching for some spice jar labels for a while now, and these look really neat! I'm more of a "less means more" person and i thought these were fantastic especially when you've got you're pot on the gas and you're frantically looking for that one spice.....arrrgghhhh!!!! lol...so easy to decifer and detect with the style the fonts etc. You're hard work has really paid off!
Would really appreciate if you could send me the word document file.
Thanks a bunch.
